It was supposed to be so simple. Fly to Paris and get a plane to Los Angeles from there. I managed to do the first bit but found the second bit more challenging because Air France's crew went on strike but Air France had decided not to cancel flights until 30 minutes after the scheduled departure time.

I hadn't checked in any bags, so I was able to leave the airport really quickly. Well, just four hours after the scheduled departure time for my flight. Alain Bidron and his wife had eache checked bags and they were kept in the airport for eight hours by a highly disorganised Air France.

I was fortunately able to fly via London the next day with BA. It wasn't a bad flight despite the seat freezing in the upright position. At least they can make a decent cup of tea.

I am now in Los Angeles and my room looks out over a landing runway at LAX. Surprisingly, it is very quiet.
