Rain was also predicted for last night and so I was a little nervous about eating outside, by the river, but was reassured to find that our table was under cover. And less reassured to find that it was under observation. It remained resolutely balmy and breezy until we'd had coffee and deserts and were walking back. And then the skies opened and we huddled under cover while the rain came down. It looked like movie rain.
It was also raining this morning when I drove to the airport. Unfortunately, the rain seems to have been fairly localised as the chap who noted the mileage on the car said he'd not seen a drop.
I don't think this rain is going to help them ease up the water restrictions but every little helps.
Last night was lovely. Donna invited me over for a curry and after we'd eaten we sat out on her balcony, overlooking downtown Brisbane. There was a light cooling breeze and a beautiful view. But we shouldn't have been able to sit out there.
Rain had been threatening all day, yesterday. As the afternoon drew on the sky became quite grey, the ozone rose and it really looked like it was going to piss down. I considered whether I should have brought a coat with me as it looked like I'd be walking back to the hotel in torrential rain.
But that didn't happen. As I walked back down the hill the sky was dark but cloud free and the humidity was low.
On the drive into the office this morning there was a gantry sign letting us know that Level 6 water restrictions are in place. I'm not sure what that actually means but it sounds pretty dire. Maybe I should post a crate of Spa water to Brisbane when I get back to Belgium?
