Show us something sparkly.

I bought a couple of necklaces with flashing, embedded LED at Disneyland. I wrapped them around the strings of the hammock and turned them on.
Arthur C Clarke wrote a pretty dire book called Rendezvous with Rama. Normally his books are dire because he has great ideas and poor characters and storytelling. This one was poor on all three counts. However, if he'd visited Uruguay he might have found a completely different kind of Rama and written a completely different book.
I quite like chocolate. I'm not a fanatic and I rarely go out of my way for chocolate, but I appreciate its chemical payload and try it out from time to time. I don't think I can claim membership to Amsterdam's chapter of the Chocolate Consumers Circle, though. However, if I find some good chocolate, like the Brazilian Kopenhagen, I make a donation. Unfortunately, I'm not sure they'll be able to get the benefit of my latest find.
Cadbury's Flake is often regarded as an excellent combination of flavour and texture. Cadbury's bill it as the "crumbliest, flakiest chocolate" and say that it "tastes like chocolate never tasted before". Unfortunately, because it's Cadbury's it has a bit more sugar, milk and margarine in it than I would like. And here is where my latest find comes in.
Rama is very similar to Flake, but it is made from dark chocolate and different dimensions. I believe that they are the main differences. But what differences. This chocolate is superior to Cadbury's Flake. It is a little bit more crisp and the flavour is more satisfying. However, it keeps the crumbliness and the joy of trying to eat it without making a mess.
Yes. This is excellent chocolate and I bought five to donate to the CCC. I just wonder how I'll manage to get them home, via Panama and LA, without them turning into chocolate dust...
What are your superstitions?

My father always taught me that being superstitious was bad luck. I think he got that one right.
Show us a fortune from a fortune cookie.

This is a tree full of fortune papers at a temple in Kyoto. I think they might be wishes rather than predictions, and I doubt they came from cookies, but it's close enough in my opinion. Plus, I think they look lovely.
Show us one swingin' party.
Submitted by mariezilla.
A while back, Pepa left and went back to Zargoza. Obviously, there was a party, and because it was Pepa it was... great fun :-) It started with an auction of her unwanted bits and bobs. Rumy modeled a coat and then Olaf bought an incontinence sheet!
And the party was sufficiently lubricated that Agata even allowed her face to be photographed.
A night to remember.
Show us what you're thankful for.
I suppose I should start off by being thankful for being alive.
The nearest I've ever come to being dead is being a couple of doors down from a double murder. I was staying at a HoJo in Phoenix and had Cops on the box (embarrassing but true) while taking a shower. After changing for dinner I stepped out of my room and saw the car park filled with police officers. They were all very busy standing around not talking to people, so I decided that I'd walk over to the steak house and have a chat with one of the waitresses. She explained to me that the young desk clerk who checked me in a couple of nights before had been shot dead with another bloke just a few rooms along from me. They were in 149 while I was in 133. I didn't notice the shots because of what was on the TV while I was in the shower.
Later that night the story got 30 seconds on the local news. The next
item was a three minute feature on a new flavour of ice cream at a
local parlour.
I'm also very thankful that I get to travel a lot. I can't say it better than Willie Nelson, I love being:
So I'm thankful for being able to visit beautiful environments, like these:
and for getting to ride in bullet trains and see beautiful temples:
and fantastic cities on different continents:
travel is a blessing and I love it.

Alaska is great! I love seeing sites like this, at the Sawyer Glacier.
